2 new films! The Machine Girl, Caramel

We have just added two new films to our Spring Showcase lineup! This brings the total number of films to 28 for this festival.

Our first new film is The Machine Girl (picture to the right), a Japanese "exploitation babe" flick about a cute high school student who becomes a killing machine after witnessing the death of her brother by some Yakuza punks. It's mindlessly violent, the heroine has a machine gun attached to her left arm, and there are plenty of crazy villains with zany devices, including a drill bra. ;) The screening for this film will be Sunday, April 20 at 9:00pm.

The second film we have added is called Caramel, by first-time feature director Nadine Labaki, which is about the daily concerns and frustrations, the triumphs and failures, and the familial and amorous problems faced by a group of Lebanese women. Labaki also deals with issues related to both the Christian and Muslim religions and how women are viewed by both. The screening for this film will be Thursday, April 24 at 9:15pm.
