Q&A with Gerard Elmore (Director of the 2008 HIFF Trailer)

We're very proud to welcome Gerard Elmore to the 28th Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival. He's come a long way since LVHIFF 2005, when his short film VALTOR THE GREAT VS. THE UNIVERSE won the Honolulu Magazine Short Film Award. The up-and-coming young filmmaker recently opened up about his long-term relationship with LVHIFF, his experience making this year's trailer, and what it was like working with two of Hawaii's brightest stars, Jason Scott Lee and Kelly Hu. As if that isn't awesome enough, Elmore even revealed his deepest, most personal movie going habits. Want to know more about our boy genius? Read on!

Jason Scott Lee is fabulous.
Kelly Hu had too much plastic surgery, and it shows.
Paula Fuga's singing is fantastic, and the only way to have ended the Trailer.
For HIFF, I'm always a bit disappointed that it just misses a true, local feeling. This is Hawaii, a place so unique and special . . . the trailer needs to reflect that, and not just plop down scenes and action in the midst of Hawaii's beautiful locations. I mean, who dresses like Kelly Hu riding a moped? The background music could be more "local". ..

I'm still a fan, however. And, it sure beats last years Trailer!!
