Aloha,

The Hawaii International Film Festival is going to Shanghai and we invite you to come with us!

HIFF has partnered with the prestigious Shanghai International Film Festival (“SIFF”) for cross cultural promotion, economic development, and tourism purposes. HIFF is the only American film festival to have this unique partnership with SIFF.

HIFF hosted a special delegation to SIFF in June 2004. The trip was an exciting, wonderful experience and many of you have been asking for the opportunity to join the next delegation.

NOW is your chance! Our group will travel to Shanghai from June 9 – 20, 2005 as part of our film festival exchange. This special delegation will be hosted by the Hawaii International Film Festival and includes people from government, business, arts & culture, and the private sector as well. This trip is designed for personal, business, and vacation travel and is a unique way to see Shanghai and parts of China.

All delegation members will be accredited guests of the Shanghai International Film Festival, allowing extraordinary access to films, receptions, and other SIFF events including the Opening Day Reception and Opening Night activities. From the moment you walk down the red carpet on Opening Night, you know you are on the trip of a lifetime.

During the Shanghai International Film Festival, HIFF hosts an “Aloha Night” Reception and Concert for our delegation and film industry luminaries from throughout the world who are attending SIFF. Last year’s Aloha Night featured a wonderful reception followed by a mini-concert with Willie K and Amy Hanaiali’i Gilliom. It was judged by all to be the absolute best party at SIFF and one of the highlights of the entire trip.

Your travel options are many, as we have designed two basic itineraries, each of which can be altered as you wish. Please follow the attached link to view specific details regarding the two different itineraries. (http://www.hiff.org/download/word/2005.03.09.SIFF_Travel.doc) Itinerary A begins and ends in Shanghai while traveling extensively in the exotic environs nearby. Itinerary B stays in Shanghai , with one day trip, to participate more in SIFF and marvelous Shanghai itself.

Keep in mind that each itinerary can be tailored to meet the needs of the business traveler, looking to develop relationships in Shanghai , or it can be made to fit with the most ambitious sightseeing, shopping, and film-viewing schedule.

The New York Times calls Shanghai “the most dynamic city in Asia .” We encourage you to join our special delegation and experience it for yourselves.

With best regards,

Chuck Boller
Executive Director
