A GIRL MISSING
A GIRL MISSING

Ichiko (Mariko Tsutsui) is a dedicated home health nurse, caring for an aging painter in her final years of life. She has become so close with her patient’s family that she frequently meets with the two granddaughters Motoko (Mikako Ichikawa) and Saki (Miyu Ogawa) after hours to help with their studies.
One day, the younger Saki goes missing, but she re-appears a week later, apparently unharmed. However, when her kidnapper is discovered, Ichiko becomes embroiled in a maelstrom of lies, manipulation, and scandal that captivates the media and threatens to destroy her whole world.
A GIRL MISSING is writer-director Koji Fukuda’s latest time-hopping drama is GONE GIRL with a patient Japanese aesthetic, revealing the destructive side of “gotcha” journalism and the more insidious tendencies of the public to participate actively in devastating a person’s reputation before all the facts are revealed.
