ACM UHM Night / SFA ShowcaseRena Shishido
This project is titled Meraki, which is defined as “when you leave a piece of yourself in the work you create”. This short narrative film follows EMI, a local Japanese girl in her early 20s who struggles to find her original style in the saturated wedding photography market in Hawai’i. When her co-worker/photographer HINA and her have a job to shoot a big time Japanese magazine editor’s wedding, the pressure of creating work the client enjoys clashes with her wants of creating something unique and personal. When the reality of Hawai’i doesn’t meet the expectations for the bride, Emi must think of alternative way to please her while keeping true to herself.
