シグナル 100

2019 / 88’ / United States Premiere / Japanese

36 high school students are cast under a hypnotic spell by their evil teacher who turns commonplace behavior like arriving late to class, using cell phones, and shedding tears into fatal suicide triggers. With 100 “signals” in all, the students watch in horror as their fellow classmates unwittingly begin committing suicide right before their very eyes. The only clues to breaking the spell is learning what NOT to do. As the carnage mounts, panic and survival instincts take over in a blood-curdling “death game.” Can the rapidly-dwindling student body keep their sanity together long enough to find a way to break the hypnotic spell, or will mad panic and futility turn them against each other to be the last one standing?

Following in the footsteps of cult classics such as BATTLE ROYALE, Lisa Takeba’s SIGNAL 100 is an over-the-top high school splatter-fest with a unique twist. It’s the last day of the school year when one class’ homeroom teacher calls them in to watch a strange video. Moments after, for no reason at all several students jump out the window to their deaths. It turns out their teacher has deadly motives. The video has hypnotized the entire class, and when they are triggered by unique ‘signals’ they will commit suicide. The 30 students must figure out the 100 deadly triggers… or die trying.
