“Everyone needs a plan.”

In 2012, a group of undocumented young people intentionally allowed themselves to be caught by authorities. Their plan: infiltrate the for-profit detention centres used by ICE to store detainees before deportation, and then use that inside information to set them free.

THE INFILTRATORS follows the National Immigrant Youth Alliance, a group of self-described “Young Illegals” advocating for Americans swept up by immigration officials. Marco Saavedra, who travelled to the United States from Mexico as a child, is absorbed into the facility after he pretending to visit a relative. Discovering a new wing of the facility devoted to female detainees, Viridiana Martinez tries to make her way into the facility, but risks blowing the whole operation. Mohammad Abdollahi coordinates on the outside, but risks death if he is sent back to Iran.

Through a mixture of interviews, reenactments and real-time action, THE INFILTRATORS plays with the thrills of a heist film with the added weight of truth behind its real world story, and six years on is more relevant than ever.
