50 years ago, Rocky Bleier’s life changed forever. A former Captain and National Champion from the University of Notre Dame (South Bend, IN), he was in his rookie season for the Pittsburgh Steelers, when he was drafted to serve in the Vietnam War. Three months after his arrival, August 20th, 1969, Bleier would be wounded in combat and airlifted out of Vietnam. Told his football career was over, Bleier underwent intense rehab and returned to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He went on to win 4 Super Bowl Rings as a running back for the club. Last summer, Bleier returned to Vietnam for the first time since that day 5 decades before.
Rocky Bleier is the only Veteran in history to win 4 Super Bowl Rings.
