It’s 2049 and AI controlled spaceship February Dawn needs to return to its home planet Rainbow’s Root before the apartment block in which it secretly embedded is demolished. Who else to help but Yuma, Shingo, and Gin, a trio of space-nerd rocketry obsessed boys!
On a sunny afternoon, Yuma notices something strange on a nearby rooftop. Upon investigation with his two best friends, he makes the discovery of a lifetime, a water activated AI spaceship that is literally out of this world. Seeing an opportunity for help from the three young boys, February Dawn recruits the trio to help launch it back into space. This won’t be an easy task, and they’ll need the help of Honaka, a withdrawn girl who’s been bullied by Shingo’s sister Wacky Wako, and Nanako, a nagging autobot with its own evolving AI. But as they embark on their mission, strange coincidences and connections to the past come into focus, bringing into question, what happened when Dawn crashed 27 years ago?
This brilliantly visualized Tomoyuki Kurokawa anime bursts onto the screen, adapted beautifully from the classic Tetsuya Imai manga. Woven into this sci-fi adventure are lessons about keeping promises, the karma of bullying, mending rifts old and new, and the connective power of love across time, space, and species.
