What’s 29-year-old virgin Hsiao Hung who still lives at home with his overbearing mom to do? How overbearing? Well, in addition to instructing him how to eat his dinner, she sets him up with dates and then calls in the middle to coach him along. His rascal cousin’s answer to bring him out of his shell: A birthday brothel deflowering. But Hsiao Hung is not ready to partake in pleasures of the flesh, instead falling for the perpetually sad and lonely madam, Sister Lele, who happens to be as old as mom, and certainly her opposite in every way.
Is a son looking for a surrogate mother in a lover as she seeks a surrogate son to reignite her passions? What happens when Hung’s mother and Lele’s son find out about the romance? They try to bandage the holes in each other’s hearts, but there’s still a lot of leakage employed by director Arvin Chen to keep this rom-com from being both overly rom and com. There’s still a coming – and acceptance – of age for all these ultimately likeable characters.
