SYNOPSIS

While working three jobs, Kea is struggling to fulfill her wish of finding a home. As a result, Kea lives out of her van and travels night and day to her laborious duties. After leaving work one night, Kea and her abusive boyfriend begin verbally and physically fighting. Quickly, Kea drives in another direction and collides with a bystander on the street. To avoid reporting her mistake, Kea helps him into her car. At first, she is frustrated by her mistakes and peeved by the homeless man she feels obligated to care for. But after days of traveling together, Kea finds herself confronting the demons of her past.

While memories of her childhood flood her mind, Kea and her new friend rediscover the purpose of their lives through nature, her culture, and the cumbersome events of life. WAIKIKI is a kaleidoscope dream that builds a portrait of Hawaii’s mountains and oceans with the whistling tune of songs about Waikiki while following the spiritual journey of a working-class woman struggling to find a purpose in a world that seems to forget about her.
