2019 New American Perspectives Program

NEW AMERICAN PERSPECTIVES PROGRAM

PRESENTED BY THE VILCEK FOUNDATION

The mission of the New American Perspectives program is to highlight the contributions of immigrant filmmakers and content creators in contemporary cinema and multimedia arts in the United States.

In 2019, the New American Perspectives program highlights the work of five talented, cutting-edge, foreign-born artists, and includes a master class with featured filmmaker, Haifaa Al-Mansour. The 2019 program will also highlight the New American Perspectives filmmakers and content creators in a featured panel discussion – free to HIFF attendees – which will focus on their careers and experiences as foreign-born artists. All 5 of the New American Perspectives filmmakers and content creators will be in attendance at the Festival, and will participate in Q&A sessions following screenings of their work.  A number of the New American Perspectives filmmakers will also participate in HIFF’s Guest Filmmaker Program which brings filmmakers from around the globe into local K-12 classrooms to speak with students about filmmaking.

THE VILCEK FOUNDATION

The Vilcek Foundation raises awareness of immigrant contributions in America and fosters appreciation of the arts and sciences.
