I AM A PLASTIC

I AM A PLASTIC is an experimental film featuring Richard Hamasaki’s amplified poetry soundtrack interwoven with spoken word, music, underwater footage, photography and concrete poetry. Published in Read Water: An Anthology (Locked Horn Press, San Diego: 2020), Hamasaki’s poem ironically comments upon humankind’s dependence upon and revulsion toward plastic products – inspired by Sir Mix-a-Lot’s 1992 recording “I’m Your New God,” a poignant tongue-in-cheek testament to the devastating effects of crack cocaine addiction. I AM A PLASTIC features poet, filmmaker and producer Richard Hamasaki, typography and images by artist and concrete poet Thad Higa with Rich Rath on digital guitar.
