One of the biggest Korean hits of the year, HIFF is delighted to present disaster comedy SINKHOLE from director Kim Ji-Hoon (SECTOR 7, THE TOWER). Park Dong-Won (KIM Sung-kyun) is thrilled. Finally after 10 years of saving, he has managed to purchase an apartment for his family. The place is perfect for his wife and young son, a new building, with all the newest fixtures in the unit. However, after moving in, something seems a bit strange (besides their obnoxious neighbor). The apartment seems slightly tilted, things roll across the floor to one side. But Dong-Won is too excited to pay this much mind and goes about planning a house-warming party.

However, the morning after a long night of drinking with his co-workers at the party, disaster strikes! Without warning, a massive sinkhole opens up, plunging the building 500 meters into the earth. Dong-Won, his hungover colleagues, and his surly neighbor Man-su (CHA Seoung-won) must band together if they have any chance at survival! Hugely entertaining, SINKHOLE is part comedy and part survivalist drama, with a full dose of nail-biting action.
