THE INTERN

Director Kim Do-young returns to HIFF following KIM JI-YOUNG: BORN 1982 (HIFF 2020), with this warm Korean remake of the beloved Hollywood comedy. Screen legend Choi Min-sik (OLDBOY) stars as a retired widower searching for a new sense of purpose, finding it as the oldest intern at a fast-growing fashion startup led by a young entrepreneur played by Han So-hee (GENERATION Y, HIFF 2025). Initially out of step with the company’s youthful, hypercharged culture, the new intern soon proves that experience never goes out of style. His patience, warmth, and old-school wisdom gradually win over his younger colleagues and forge an unexpected friendship with his fiercely independent boss, who is struggling to balance extraordinary professional success with life beyond work.
