2020 HIFF SEASONAL STAFF POSITIONS

The Hawai‘i International Film Festival (HIFF) is looking for skilled, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to assist with the planning and production of the 40th annual Hawai‘i International Film Festival, which will take place from November 5-15, 2020.

Seasonal Staff are paid festival positions that include roles such as Transportation Coordinator, Events Coordinator, and Social Media Coordinator. Scheduling and work hours will be flexible and variable, with required hours increasing leading up to and during the film festival.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL SEASONAL STAFF POSITIONS
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication skills.
  • Team player who can also work independently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and is not afraid to ask questions.
  • Basic knowledge of Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
  • Basic knowledge of Internet (all browser platforms and advance search), Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter.
  • Vehicle access and driver’s license very desirable.
  • Ability to work flexible hours before, during, and after the festival.

SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Hawai‘i International Film Festival is currently seeking a Social Media Coordinator. The Social Media Coordinator will work closely with the PR, Marketing and Programming Teams to execute the Fall Festival social media campaign beginning in September. This position reports directly to the Director of Partnerships, but will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with all departments of the HIFF team. Some evening/weekend work may be required, as well as additional hours required during the film festival.  

PAY: Stipend (Part-time, increased hours during festival, exempt, temporary, no benefits)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Manage and post content on HIFF’s social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter

-Monitor channel’s DMs and communicate any relevant issues, comments, feedback to respective HIFF departments

-Interacting with the HIFF audience in a professional matter

-Schedule social media posts by utilizing HIFF’s Hootsuite account

-Create engaging text and images relevant to HIFF’s programming, events, and initiatives

-Maintain unified brand voice across different social media channels.

-Monitor social media channels for industry trends.

-Create and implement a social media marketing plan in conjunction with the Director of Partnerships and the HIFF Programming Department.

-Suggest new ways to attract prospective audience/customers, like promotions and competitions

-Use analytics to create targeted marketing campaigns via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google.

REQUIREMENTS:

-Previous professional work experience with Social Media

-Knowledge and expertise with multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

-Basic proficiency in Graphic Design 

-Excellent Customer Service skills

-Excellent Communication skills

-Ability to multitask

-Basic understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics

-Copywriting and copy editing skills

-Must have own computer (preferably a Mac) & mobile device

DESIRED SKILLS:

-Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro)

-Experience with Canva

 

VIDEOGRAPHER / CONTENT CREATOR

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Hawaii International Film Festival is currently seeking a Digital Content Creator. The Digital Content Creator will work closely with the PR, Marketing and Programming Teams to produce primarily video content, and assist with photo content, for the HIFF Fall Festival. This position reports directly to the Executive Director, but will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with all departments of the HIFF team. Some evening/weekend work may be required, as well as additional hours required during the film festival.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Record and edit original video content including promos, recaps, bumpers, and more that are relevant to HIFF’s programming, events, and initiatives 

-Assist Director of Partnerships in publishing video content for all digital and social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and HIFF.ORG.

-Assist Director of Partnerships and Social Media Coordinator in capturing photos relevant to HIFF’s programming, events, and initiatives

-Work with Press, Marketing and Programming Teams to brainstorm and suggest new and creative ways to attract prospective audience members

-Manage and provide digital content (video and photos) to Press, Marketing and Programming Teams

-Manage and post content to HIFF’s Youtube & Vimeo channels

-Avoid copyright claims on videos

REQUIREMENTS:

-Proficiency in videography and editing techniques

-Proficiency in Graphic Design 

-Experience with capturing audio

-Excellent Communication skills

-Ability to multitask

-Able to work productively both individually and with team members

-Embraces constructive feedback to improve content ideas

-Understanding of copyright laws in videos

-Must have own computer (preferably a Mac) 

DESIRED SKILLS:

-Skills in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro)

-Owns personal Video Camera equipment and willing utilize for this position
