HIFF is a year-round film arts non-profit organization which runs cinema exhibition, educational and filmmaking industry programming, including the Annual Hawai‘i International Film Festival, Presented by Halekulani which takes place in October, 2026.
HIFF is looking for skilled, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join the team in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. Certain positions are year-round and others are for seasonal contractors.

Seasonal contract positions at HIFF offer excellent opportunities to experience and participate in an exciting film and cultural event. Seasonal contractors will get hands-on experience with festival planning and implementation, as well as gain exposure to the Asian American and Pacific Islander arts community.
TIME COMMITMENT:
Scheduling and work hours will be flexible and variable, with remote and on-site work necessary, required hours increasing leading up to and during the film festival. Both remote and in office work with on site work during the festival.
COMPENSATION:
Most contract positions will receive a stipend based on experience and time commitment required. Contracts are exempt, temporary, with no benefits
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL SEASONAL CONTRACT POSITIONS:
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication skills
- Team player who can also work remotely, independently and within a team environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines
- Self-starter who takes initiative and is not afraid to ask questions
- Basic knowledge of Google Drive, Workplace apps, Dropbox, or equivalent apps
- Basic knowledge of Slack, or equivalent communications apps
- Basic knowledge of Social Media
- Vehicle access and a valid driver’s license is very desirable
- Ability to use personal computer and cellphone with required planning and communication apps installed for remote work
- Ability to work flexible hours before, during, and after the festival
- Previous event planning and operations experience is a HUGE bonus
- Must live on O‘ahu or be able to reside here during festival dates

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Partnerships Manager is an essential member of the HIFF core team, as this position is the point of contact for HIFF sponsors. The position works closely with the team to identify, cultivate, and deepen relationships with various partners and sponsors for HIFF year-round and Festival efforts, manages contract and deliverables for sponsors, and supports marketing and PR efforts for the organization. This position reports to the Executive Director, but collaboratives significantly with all departments of the HIFF team. Evening/weekend and additional hours required during the film festival and special events.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
SPONSORSHIPS
- Prospect new/previous sponsors, partners, and donors
- Develop relationships with local, national, and international brands & organizations and understand their objectives by learning through research and networking
- Prepare sponsorship proposals to match brand’s objectives to maximize benefits
- Provide metrics and relevant content to educate potential partners about sponsorship opportunities before & during festival events
- Produce and deliver final sponsorship agreement contracts
- Manage a portfolio of various current sponsors and partners and the fulfillment of respective cash and trade agreements
- Coordinate the activation of in-theater, online, and event marketing and branding per sponsors and partners agreements
- Logo placement
- Ad placement
- Trailers/Commercials placement
- Ticketing and Passes distribution
- Event invitations
- Provide support to sponsors and partners as the primary liaison for requests
- Coordinate the activation of in-theater, online, and event marketing and branding per sponsors and partners agreements
- Produce branding content for HIFF and on behalf of sponsors
- Creating pre-show bumpers (Video & Still Image)
- Editing/converting trailers to appropriate length/format
- Promotional copy and images for eNews, Social Media, and festival promos
- HIFF Festival Ad Slide-show
- Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with the organization’s mission and funding priorities.
- Take the lead on select grant applications, including writing, budgeting, and submission, ensuring compliance with funder requirements
- Support other team members on additional grant applications by providing research, drafting content, and coordinating materials
- In conjunction with the Executive Director, serve as a HIFF representative at community events
MARKETING
- Collaborate with media partners to promote the festival to the community through Radio, Television and Digital formats
- Work with outside branding team to create HIFF Showcase and Fall Festival branding, marketing materials and other promotional items.
- Assist with management of HIFF.ORG Website and HIFILM Blog Website
- Creating graphics
- Uploading posts
EVENT SUPPORT
- Support year-round and Festival HIFF Events via
- Assist in managing guest lists
- Assist with set-up and breakdown needs when necessary
- Manage logistics and placement of PR/marketing materials at HIFF events including retractable signage, media walls (step and repeats), red carpets, marketing materials, etc
- General miscellaneous festival event support as needed
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Strong connections with Hawaii’s business communities is essential
- Knowledge and love of cinema, enthusiasm for HIFFs mission and vision.
- Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills and capabilities and ability to successfully reach and communicate with a diverse range of individuals and organizations is required.
- Detail-oriented, organized and independently motivated. Ability to multitask and prioritize when working with tight deadlines.
- Fluency in Mac-based applications including MS Office, Excel, and Powerpoint
- Experience working with computer database systems and cloud-based applications including Airtable, Google Workspace, Sheets, Dropbox, Excel, and Slack
- Knowledge of international cinema, Hawaiian, Asian Pacific American communities, issues, and organizations preferred.
- Experience with photo editing software such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop and Premiere Pro), Canva, etc preferred
- Ticketing Management experience preferred
- Able to lift 40 lbs+
- Must be based in Hawaii
DESCRIPTION: Hawaiʻi International Film Festival (HIFF) is seeking dedicated and skilled Volunteer Language Interpreters to join our team for the 46th Annual Fall Festival. As a Volunteer Language Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the festival experience for our international filmmakers and guests. Your primary responsibilities will include translating filmmaker Q&As and liaising with visiting filmmakers and industry guests.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Live interpretation of filmmaker introductions and Q&As during screenings and panel discussions.
- Liaise with visiting filmmakers and industry guests, ensuring smooth communication.
- Assist with interpretation during networking events and other festival activities.
- Provide accurate and culturally sensitive translations.
- Support the festival staff in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Fluent in English and one of the following languages: Korean, Japanese, Cantonese, or Mandarin.
- Comfortable speaking in front of a crowd.
- Previous translation or interpreter experience, or equivalent language skills.
- Understanding of cinema and movie vocabulary.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Seasonal Contract: October 14 – October 26
TIME COMMITMENT: 10-20 hours per week. Some early morning and late evening runs are occasionally required. Shifts scheduled based on drivers availability
PAY: $15/hour (exempt, temporary, no benefits)
JOB DESCRIPTION: Drive and maintain festival vehicles to be used to transport festival guests to/from various venues, including Airport to Waikiki runs and shuttling guests to/from screenings at Kahala Mall, Ward Village and other venues as needed. Drivers will be asked to schedule various shifts based on availability. Punctuality is imperative as many of the rides will be picking up and dropping off guests at the Honolulu Airport.
This position is perfect as a side project. It will be a lot of fun and you will meet great and interesting people in the film industry.
The Transportation Team will be required to have a valid driver’s license, personal vehicular insurance and sign a confidentiality agreement. It is imperative that all drivers maintain a professional and respectful attitude, no matter who is in the car. Safe driving is our number one priority.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive multiple routes per shift in a festival vehicle to and from festival venues with visiting filmmakers and guests in a punctual and safe manner
- Coordinate with Transportation Manager to pick up and return vehicle keys and park vehicle in safe location overnight
- Use Slack to communicate with manager about availability and whereabouts at all time when on shift
- Maintain respectful demeanor with guests at all time
- Be responsible for vehicle cleanliness, security and safe return, as well as all items within the vehicle while it is your possession
- Work with volunteer Airport Greeters when necessary to coordinate smooth arrivals and locating guests
- Follow all local road rules and speed limits
- Arrive early for all shifts and pickups
- The signing of Confidentiality Agreement will be required
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a valid US driver’s license and current automobile insurance, with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience as a delivery or car share driver would be cool
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills is also pretty great
- Punctual, organized, motivated and polite customer oriented attitudes only
- Must be based/currently reside in Hawaiʻi
