Rita (Zoe Saldaña), an underrated lawyer working for a large law firm more interested in getting criminals out of jail than bringing them to justice, is hired by a feared cartel boss (Karla Sofía Gascón). She has to help him retire from his business and disappear forever by becoming the woman he's always dreamed of being. However, things aren’t so simple, in order to disappear into her new identity, she must give up her children and her beloved wife (Selena Gomez), a feat easier said than done.
The latest from French director Jacques Audiard, based on his opera libretto of the same name, which in turn was loosely adapted from Boris Razon''s 2018 novel Écoute, this French-Spanish musical extravaganza, based in Mexico City, stars Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez, Edgar Ramirez and Karla Sofía Gascón in an awards worthy performance. One of the buzziest films straight from Cannes 2024.
