THE GIRL WITH THE NEEDLE

This haunting period piece centers around the life of a wartime factory seamstress in Copenhagen who becomes pregnant by her boss in hopes of escaping her dire situation. But things turn even more nightmarish when she meets and helps a woman who operates an adoption agency for unwanted infants operating under the guise of a candy shop. This most recent film by noted Danish director/screenwriter Magnus von Horn was in competition for the Palme d’Or in this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
