Consolidated Theatres and the Hawai‘i International Film Festival (HIFF) are launching HIFF WEDNESDAYS, a new biweekly theatrical series bringing Hawai‘i-made films to audiences across O‘ahu and creating a year-round platform for local filmmakers beyond the annual Festival.
Beginning Wednesday, September 2, every other Wednesday at 7:00 PM, a specially curated film will screen simultaneously at four Consolidated Theatres locations: Ward with TITAN LUXE, Kapolei, Pearlridge, and Mililani with TITAN LUXE. Ward screenings will also feature filmmaker Q&As and special guests.
HIFF WEDNESDAYS gives Hawai‘i filmmakers something rarely available to locally produced independent films: regular access to commercial movie screens and audiences across the island. By expanding beyond Honolulu, the series creates a consistent destination for moviegoers to discover stories made in and connected to Hawai‘i.
“HIFF has always been a home for Hawai‘i filmmakers, but that support shouldn’t end when the Festival does,” said Anderson Le, Artistic Director of HIFF. “HIFF WEDNESDAYS creates a bridge between the festival circuit and commercial exhibition, giving audiences the opportunity to see Hawai‘i films at their neighborhood theater and filmmakers a life on the big screen beyond a single festival premiere.”
“HIFF WEDNESDAYS strengthens our longstanding partnership with HIFF and gives us an exciting opportunity to champion local filmmaking year-round,” said Ellen Cotter, President and CEO of Reading International, parent company of Consolidated Theatres. “This series amplifies our commitment to being truly Hawai‘i’s movie theater and ensuring local stories are represented on the big screen.”
A NEW HOME FOR HAWAI‘I CINEMA
HIFF WEDNESDAYS will continue every other Wednesday through the end of 2026, featuring a rotating mix of new locally produced films, encore presentations of award-winning favorites from previous HIFF editions, and special presentations of select films from the upcoming 46th Hawai‘i International Film Festival.
