CLIMBING FOR LIFE
てっぺんの向こうにあなたがいる
CLIMBING FOR LIFE, the newest work from acclaimed filmmaker Junji Sakamoto, is an inspiring biopic of pioneering Japanese mountaineer Junko Tabei. In 1975, Tabei became the first woman to summit Mount Everest and later the first to complete the Seven Summits, conquering the highest peaks on every continent and redefining what women could achieve in the male-dominated world of high-altitude climbing. Released to honor the 50th anniversary of her historic Everest ascent, the film traces her journey from a determined young climber to an international icon of courage and perseverance. Beloved actress Sayuri Yoshinaga—winner of a record four Japanese Academy Best Actress awards—portrays Tabei with grace and quiet strength, while Koichi Sato, Yuki Amami, and Non (Rena Nōnen) round out a stellar ensemble. CLIMBING FOR LIFE is both a sweeping adventure and an intimate portrait of a woman whose spirit continues to inspire climbers and dreamers worldwide.
