LONE SAMURAI

LONE SAMURAI, directed by Josh  C. Waller, reimagines the classic samurai epic through an intensely personal lens. The film follows a solitary ronin—an aging samurai widower played by international star Shogen—stranded on a remote island, the lone survivor of a shipwreck. Isolated from known society and haunted by his past, he must face the harsh elements and his own fading purpose. But he soon discovers he is not alone on this remote island.

The ronin is drawn into a precarious conflict that forces him to rediscover his code of honor. With sparse dialogue and evocative visuals, LONE SAMURAI explores themes of solitude, redemption, and the shifting terrain between tradition and survival as the film becomes a clash of CASTAWAY with tinges of Mola Ram zaniness from TEMPLE OF DOOM. Waller, best known for his genre-bending work with SpectreVision (RAZE, the Hawai‘i shot CAMINO), brings a hardened realism and cinematic discipline to this period tale, which culminates in an epic acid trip and a stripped-down final battle of chanbara-action.
