SNOW LEOPARD SISTERS

Sponsored by:

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Himalayan highlands, this powerful drama follows an unlikely friendship between two Indigenous women amid a dramatic decline in the snow leopard population. When local conservationist Tshiring Lhamu Lama learns that a snow leopard has killed a family’s entire goat herd, she returns to her village to persuade them not to retaliate. There, she meets Tenzin Bhuti Gurung, a spirited young woman facing an arranged marriage. Seeking escape and purpose, Tenzin agrees to apprentice with Tshiring, and the two journey across the rugged mountains in search of the elusive snow leopard. Along the way, they confront the weight of generational patriarchy, the contradictions of Western-led conservation, and the limits of their own traditions.

Visually stunning and emotionally resonant, SNOW LEOPARD SISTERS is a poignant exploration of female empowerment, environmental justice, and the power of connection in the face of cultural and ecological change.
