STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MEET HIFF's student ADVISORY COMMITTEE
A collective group of student leaders, many of whom are alumni of HIFF’s Education programs, all sharing a passion for storytelling. The committee plays a pivotal role in shaping ‘Ōpio Fest in the spring and HIFF’s annual University Showcase during the fall. Students meet twice a month throughout each semester-long term to review student film submissions, discuss ideas for education programming, and support the organization with festival documentation and outreach.
Applications for the spring term of HIFF’s Student Advisory Committee are closed. Applications for the fall term will open in the summer of 2025.
Duties of the committee include:
- Meeting twice a month on Zoom or in-person
Representing the committee at HIFF ‘Ōpio Fest, monthly screenings, and other special events throughout the Spring - Reviewing and rating student film submissions for HIFF ‘Ōpio Fest
- Opportunities to present and speak at HIFF events
- Connecting with schools and organizations through outreach efforts
- Supporting school visits and education events within HIFF Education programs
- Capturing, documenting, and creating content for HIFF’s social media and archives
- Contributing ideas and planning the second annual HIFF ‘Ōpio Fest

- Front row seat to observing festival operations and event management
- Mentorship from HIFF’s Education Director and HIFF staff
Eligibility Age/Grade Level:
- High School Senior or College level student
- Must at least 18-years-old
- Students who have who have participated in any of HIFF’s Education programs (‘Ōpio Fest, Guest Filmmaker Program, Youth Education Screenings, Future Filmmakers, Student Showcase, ACM Accelerator, HIFF Internship) opportunities throughout the term.
