As we enter our 45th year and reflect on the legacy and bright future ahead for HIFF, it is my honor to announce the next exciting evolution of the Hawaiʻi International Film Festival: HIFF ‘Ōpio Fest presented by Halekulani.
This rebrand of our signature spring event will maintain all the acclaim of HIFFs annual Spring Showcase that brings the brightest new voices in international cinema ahead of our Fall Festival – and joins this momentum with a celebration of the Future of Film, showcasing Hawaii’s young creatives, incorporating special industry guests, family-friendly film premieres, and workshops for all ages that catalyze creative conversations around the next generation of storytelling, films, filmmakers, culture, and connection.
As with our previous spring events, HIFFs ‘Ōpio Fest will continue to highlight the best in new international cinema that will include selections straight from Sundance, exceptional international programs, and advanced screenings of anticipated studio releases. We look forward to announcing the program and sharing in your excitement as you uncover new favorite gems, browse through exciting festival premieres, and experience top-quality cinema with the dedicated and passionate HIFF community. We encourage you to also check out the incredible programs that highlight the talent of Hawaiʻi’s emerging voices, and the excitement around celebrating the next generation of media.
