CONFETTI

Junior high school student Yuki was born in a family of a traveling theater troupe. To keep up the performance schedule, he travels around Japan every month, leading a life of constantly changing schools. This has left him with no expectation to make friends or have new encounters, as he only focuses on his performance. But one day at a new school, Yuki meets Ken, a bored and teen-angsty truant who excels academically but still struggles at school. They find one thing in common and within the limited time they have, the two become good friends and spend invaluable days together.
Directed by Naoya Fujita in his feature debut, CONFETTI is a fresh, sweet-spirited take on the venerable seishun eiga (youth film) genre, as well as an informed and sympathetic look at a type of popular but critically underrated Japanese theater.
