Special Screening (plays with ALBERT PYUN: KING OF CULT MOVIES)In the year 2027 it is possible to upgrade your body with cybernetic implants. Agent Alex Rain (Olivier Gruner) has gone through quite a few upgrades when he is badly damaged/injured during a shootout involving members of the terrorist organization the Red Army Hammerhead. When Alex recovers, he quits his job and heads to Rio to pursue a career as a smuggler. However, Alex is kidnapped by his ex-boss, Farnsworth, and forced to do one last job. The Hammerheads have stolen plans for a Japanese-American summit, and Alex must track down and take out the terrorists. Gruner is perhaps the weakest link, acting wise, but thank Pyun's brilliant casting to include Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa and Yuri Okimoto, and the Full Moon Features staple Tim Thomerson (see TRANCERS and DOLLMAN) as the indestructible big baddie. If the film is little more than a rip-off of countless other great science-fiction and action films of the '80s (checklist includes THE TERMINATOR, ROBOCOP, BLADERUNNER, THE KILLER), it's definitely one of the best!
