This captivating animated feature with CG rendered animals and beautiful paint-like natural backgrounds tells the story of a great flood that overwhelms a mystical landscape that a clever and resilient cat and a menagerie of various creatures must navigate in order to survive. Latvia’s official Academy Awards submission, FLOW is a dialogue-free take on THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY with the steam-punk mysteriousness of MYST. Director Gints Zilbalodis lets his animals be who they naturally are and the film illustrates the wonder of perception. It''s a terrific film for all ages, with its beguiling visuals and naturally depicted animals loaded with charm and individuality. And it has a lovely understated spiritual element to it as well.
