FLY ME TO THE MOON
但願人長久
Rising filmmaker Sasha Chuk wrote, directed, and co-stars in this award-winning feature debut adapted from her own semi-autobiographical novella. She plays the wife of a Hunanese man who she reunites with in Hong Kong, along with one of their daughters, an eight-year-old. The family, however, lives in poverty and confronts a cultural barrier. On top of that, the husband (Wu Kange-ren) is caught up in drug smuggling and is an addict himself.
Things come to a head when the youngest daughter migrates to Hong Kong and reunites with the family, but their happiness is short-lived when their father is arrested, leaving his wife to raise their children alone for the next 10 years while he is in prison. This observant drama is also buoyed by the performances of Chloe Hui and Yoyo Tse, who plays the eldest daughter at different points of her life.
Director Sasha Chuk will be in attendance for a special post-screening Q&A.
