In 1923, Te Arawa leader and Te Whakarewarewa guide Mākereti Papakura was the first Māori woman to complete her doctorate at Oxford University, England. 100 years later, her granddaughter June Grant collaborates with Dreamgirls Art Collective to honour Maggie by painting a 24ft 7 story mural in the heart of the Rotorua CBD.
