VOICE

In early 2023, a national vote in Australia to enshrine indigenous people's voice in the constitution is slated for later that year. A dynamic Indigenous youth group drawn from across regional Australia is beginning preparations to become referendum campaigners back in their own communities. The young indigenous participants begin their preparation by embarking on a road trip to honor a land rights legacy created back in 1966. Buoyed by the imminent vote on First Nations recognition, the group voyage through the ephemeral Australian landscape in the microcosm of a minibus, sharing the rich, multilayered stories of their ancestors as they dream up a hopeful new vision for Australia. This intimate road journey presents these future campaigners in the context of a centuries-long fight for indigenous rights. It shines a light on the indomitable spirit of hope and desire to lead their communities to a better future.
