Due to the far-reaching impact of the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting the independent filmmaking ecosystem, HIFF has postponed our spring season programming to later dates. The Festival remains deeply committed to supporting our artists and are working creatively to bring our global ohana together. We have launched HIFF@HOME to bring the film festival to you. We are excited to offer our audiences at home these very Best of HIFF short films from around the world, as well as from Hawai‘i’s groundbreaking filmmakers. Plus, we are working with film distributors to release new festival films for streaming at home, with 50% of the proceeds to benefit HIFF directly. Check out the HIFF Virtual Cinema offerings below.

We are pleased to present new independent arthouse and international films in their virtual theatrical releases (check back often for new releases every Friday this summer). Each film has a button link to the distributor’s screening portal where you’ll be able to rent the film and begin watching. For most transactions, HIFF receives up to 50% of the transaction! It is a great way to support us during this time and see new films!

Academy for creative media - UH MāNOA
HIFF has partnered with ACM at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa for over a decade that has featured student films at the Festival, as well as special showcases and programs hosted in Shanghai, China. Here is a collection of films that were featured in the annual ACM UHM Night presented at HIFF.
