Due to the COVID19 pandemic and “shelter-at-home” policies, we had to postpone the April HIFF Spring Showcase. Hence, we successfully launched HIFF@HOME, presenting “Best of HIFF” short films online and for free. We have now entered our next phase of programming and are pleased to present new independent arthouse films, including theatrical runs of past HIFF favorites, in an ever-rotating selection for the newly launched HIFF Virtual Cinema!
As movie theaters are closed across the country, HIFF has brought the cinema to you. Stay home, stay healthy and enjoy as part of our HIFF@HOME initiative. On each film detail page, you’ll find a link to the distributor’s screening portal where you’ll be able to rent the film and begin watching. For most transactions, HIFF receives up to 50% of the transaction! It is a great way to support us during this time and see new films!
The HIFF Virtual Cinema is now open for business! As of today, May 1, eight new films are currently available for rental with new films to premiere throughout the month and well through mid-summer. For example, May 7 is the the return of the popular DRIVEWAYS, which we presented in advance and hosted a fun Zoom Q&A chat with director Andrew Ahn last weekend. We are also planning more special live Q&As with directors in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
