A MAN

ある男

The latest from director Kei Ishikawa (GUKOROKU: TRACES OF SIN, ARC), A MAN is an evocative mystery about the nature of truth and identity. After divorcing, Rie (Sakura Ando) has found happiness with her second husband Daisuke Taniguchi (Masataka Kubota) and formed a new family. But their happy life is cut short when Daisuke dies in a tragic accident. Having never met his family, she meets his brother for the first time at the funeral. Yet to her shock and disbelief, she learns that the man she married is not Daisuke Taniguchi at all. Rie calls on attorney Kido (Satoshi Tsumabuki) to help her find out the truth about the identity of the man she loved. As Kido embarks on a quest to find out who Rie’s husband really was, and for that matter who is Daisuke Taniguchi, this journey opens up larger questions about the nature of identity itself, and what makes a person authentic, real, and true. -Anna Page
